(Note: If your steering wheel or car shake when you brake, that is likely a separate problem.)

Why Do My Brakes Squeak? Why Are My Brakes Making a Grinding Noise?

  • Worn Brake Pads – Brake pads will make noises when they wear down to closely to the rotors. This wear causes the metal surfaces to rub against one another. Failing to get worn brake pads replaced regularly may lead to replacing damaged rotors. Replacing damaged rotors is a more costly repair.
  • Poorly Constructed Brake Pads – If you chose aftermarket brake pads rather than OEM Honda brake pads, there is a chance your brake pads could damage your rotors, thus causing squeaking noises.
  • Weather Conditions – There’s a chance that your brakes are grinding – and thus making a squeaking noise – due to dusty, sandy, or humid climate conditions.
  • Objects Stuck Between Rotor and Caliper – If you’re driving around Lynnwood, and you happen to hear grinding or squeaking noises coming from your car’s brakes, there may be an object stuck between your Honda’s rotor or caliper.

How Much Does Brake Service Cost?

Brake repair service costs vary quite a bit depending on the types of repairs needed, the quality of parts used, and your Honda’s model and year. In general, though, you can expect to pay between around $200 to $700 for brake repairs per axle. Remember, the sooner you bring it in, the less expensive the repairs are likely to be!
