Washington Park Arboretum

Located just south of the University of Washington, the Washington Park Arboretum has long been known as a top spot for Seattle fall color. This gorgeous arboretum showcases the best of the autumnal hues, and it makes for an easygoing stroll on a sunny afternoon. Beginners and advanced hikers alike can enjoy the 5-mile route with minimal elevation. Nature lovers will also appreciate the nearby Japanese gardens, which is one of the oldest Japanese gardens in all of North America.

Twin Falls

Around 31 miles from Seattle, Twin Falls is a classic hiking trail that’s beloved by local Seattle adventurers – and it’s dog-friendly, too!. At only 2.5 miles with a 300-foot elevation, this trail is family-friendly for hikers of all ages and skill levels. This spot is accessible all year round, but it really comes alive in the fall with its bigleaf maple trees in full color. In addition to the spectacular hues, Twin Falls is most well-known for the two spectacular waterfalls that give this park its name.

Cedar River Trail

Another one of the best fall hikes near Seattle is the Cedar River Trail, only around 30 minutes away in Renton. While many love to hike here to admire the brilliant hues of the maple trees, this 17-mile trail is also a great spot for a biking trip or even an equestrian ride. This path runs along a former railroad route, so you can get fantastic views down the entire length of the Cedar River. 

Gold Creek Pond

Located one hour away in Snoqualmie Pass, the Gold Creek Pond is the place to go for an unforgettable mountain view of the Seattle fall colors. Vine maples showcase vibrant yellow, orange, and red hues as you walk the 1-mile course around the pond. If you want a longer hike, you can navigate 4 miles into the valley to experience even more of the local flora and fauna.
