Inflating Your Tires in 5 Easy Steps

If you’re unsure of how to inflate your tires, no worries! The process is simple. First, you’ll want to check your tire pressure with a gauge. If you don’t have a tire gauge, you can purchase one at our parts department near Woodinville! Once you have your tire gauge, you’ll need to determine how much air you should put in your tires. We’ll cover that in the following section. For now, take a look at the simple steps for how to fill your tires with air:

  • Go to a gas station with an air dispenser.
  • Park your car next to it in a manner where you can pull the air hose to the hubs of each of your wheels.
  • Unscrew the cap of the tire you want to fill, and check its pressure with your gauge.
  • Identify what the recommended car tire pressure is for your tire.
  • If the tire is overinflated, deflate it to the recommended level.
  • If the tire is underinflated, you’ll need to add air.
  • If adding air, connect the air hose to the
  • Remove the cap from the tire valve on the first tire.
  • Then, use your tire gauge to check the air pressure in the tire.
  • Repeat this process for the other three tires.
  • If you happen to add too much air, just press the pin on the tire valve to deflate the tire to the proper level.

How Much Air Should I Put in My Tires?

The average tire for a passenger car requires a car tire pressure PSI (pound per square inch) of between 32 and 35. However, there’s plenty of room for variation. You can check your owner’s manual for specifics. You can also often find tire pressure recommendations on a sticker usually located on your door sill. Bear in mind that many tires feature PSI recommendations, but this number only indicates the maximum amount of pressure your tire can hold—not the recommended car tire pressure for your vehicle.
